DENTISTRY

Dental diseases in rodents are very common. Most of them are caused by mistakes in husbandry and nutrition of the animals, but genetic origins can occur as well. At our clinic we frequently provide dental care to our rodent patients.

During the dental treatment we correct overgrown teeth by filing them back to their anatomic size and treat dental abscesses. These are performed under general anesthesia. It is important to know that with these treatments - in successful cases - we conserve the current state or aim to provide an asymptomatic or low-symptomatic condition. It is important to involve the owners in the treatment, since dental problems usually need lifelong, regular veterinary care, so the owners’ cooperation is essential in the success of these treatments.
