NEUTERING

NEUTERING

Guinea pigs are very social animals. If we want to give them a good environment it is essential that they get at least one mate, possibly of the other gender. To prevent unwanted offspring we advise to castrate the male guinea pigs. Neutering of female guinea pigs is usually performed because of ovarian cyst-related problems. We also have to take into consideration that guinea pigs reach sexual maturity very fast - females can be receptive at 2-4 weeks already, while in males it’s usually around 3-4 weeks.
