GENERAL EXAMINATION AND EXPERT ADVICE

Due to their evolution ornamental birds are trying to hide any symptoms of their illnesses as long as they are able. At our clinic we have the opportunity to investigate these illnesses with instrumental diagnostic methods and laboratory testing, but the general experience is that, because of their symptom-hiding ability, many avian patients are brought to a veterinarian very late. For these reasons we advise owners to use preventive examinations and screenings to be able to diagnose certain organ diseases prior to the birds showing any symptoms. During the examination we discuss husbandry and nutrition, because with appropriate technology many problems can be prevented. For certain forms of diseases, like changes in the feathers, beak or nails, or behavioural problems we can plan ahead and book appointments accordingly. But if the bird has generalised symptoms, is weak, apathetic, doesn’t eat or has difficulty breathing, please contact us immediately.
